My fiance and I are getting our first apartment together after living with other people for about a year. It’s finally our place. He’s very much into golf, sports, and bars, while I enjoy art, scrapbooking, nature and working out. He does most of the cooking. How should I balance his taste with mine while decorating? How do I not make the kitchen and bedroom too feminine? And what color towels do you suggest? Since we dont have a lot of money to spend, where are good places to buy inexpensive but pretty furniture?
Congrats on a place of your own! When my husband and I got our first place we had a terrible time deciding what to buy and wound up buying everything too dark. I would go neutral as possible with all furniture and add color with curtains, carpets, pillows and art. This way you can change it all without breaking the bank. As for towels I like white, other colors fade and look old way too quickly, but with a little bleach your white are always good as new. One thing that we also did was bought all of our kitchen tools, and accessories in stainless steel. It gave it a uniform look and not too kitchy. Then I was able again to add my fav color dish towels, vases of flowers, etc. Good luck and happy decorating.

I was wondering, what is the average income/earningsof a digital scrapbooker designer ? (designs kits and sell online their store or large store)
Is this good income that you can live off, or more for SAHM that need some play money
It’s not something you should quit your full-time job to do. There are hundreds of digital scrapbook kit designers who are peddling their wares to a marketplace that is very limited since so few people actually have the software to make a digital scrapbook page and know how to use it.
I would say that most make less than $200 a month in sales. A very popular designer might make $3000 a month or more in sales. But keep in mind that that’s gross sales and doesn’t take into account business expenses. There are store fees and commissions, PayPal fees, server fees if the designer has her own store online, fees to for software and computer supplies.
The more popular digital scrapbook kit designers also design for paper scrapbook companies.

Where do the people who sell scrapbooking stuff on ebay get it from? Because they get shippings 3-4 times a week and they dont have to pay very much. Is there a warehouse, so that they can get that many namebrand things? Because if there isnt then they wouldnt make very much money off of ebay because that stuff is really expensive.
Thanks for you answers =)
They may have an agreement with a dropshipper, to pass along the money and then the dropshipper sends the stuff out from their warehouse. The profit margin is very small. You sure couldn’t make a living from it.
Or they could be going to odd-lots stores and buying up last year’s designs at a big discount, then selling it on Ebay for the regular price.

my mom is going to be 33 tomorrow. I dont have any money. I thought about making her something.
these are some materials I have:
scrapbooking supplies (mostly just paper so I cant make a scrapbook)
puff paints
acrylic paints
material (fabric)
some ribbons
lots of other crafty things
she likes angels and she collects country things
do you know of any craft projects I could make that she would like?
I would make a picture frame for her.. decorate it, customize it with things she’d like… and put a picture of the 2 of you in it! You could use the paints to paint it, the ribbon to hang it on the wall, and just decorate it. Every mom would like that! and you could make her a birthday card too! Hope this helps and goodluck!

Our (rented) townhouse has a very bleak cement block basement. Right now the blocks are painted white and cream (and not in a pretty pattern) and the floor is painted dark gray. We want to use the basement as a fitness room and a crafting area for scrapbooking. The lighting is also terrible. What are some ways we can brighten up the space and make it more hospitable without doing any permanent construction (remember we are renting) or spending a lot of money?
I am allowed to do whatever I want in the basement, with the understanding that it is a basement (subject to incoming water). I just don’t want to do permanent construction because I won’t be here a very long time. I want ideas of what I can do, creatively speaking.
Here’s my idea for a basement that needs some brightening up.
Since you’re going to want as much light as possible so that you won’t dread going down there at any time of day or night, try painting those silly blocks a lemon or butter yellow. This is a bright and cheery color and pretty. It is also a good color for workout rooms.
I’ve also noticed that in basements where the cieling is not finished, the light just seems to get soaked up in the floorboards in the cieling. To help the cieling, you really ought to consider putting something up on it that will reflect the light down. You have to worry about whatever you put up there as being a potential fire-hazard, though, with the lights and everything, but in the end even some cheep white sheets thumbtacked to the floor boards on the cieling can work. Might look kind of funky, but hey… worth a try, or something else similar. Maybe even flat pieces of styrofoam. Sounds tacky, but it will help with the lighting so much!
I think tall standing lamps placed in each corner of the room would work, too. As well as what that dumb druggy guy suggested: getting lights from Home depot or somewhere.
Also one big area rug, or two seperate ones to divide the room spaces would be best. Change the color of paint on the floor from gray to maybe a dark beige or even a brighter color if you like, then get the rugs in a bright color, too.
Reds, oranged, peaches, yellows, beiges, tans, etc., all work well for basements and for brightening and warming things up.
I dont recommend table lamps because they seem to set off a more soft, relaxing, dim kind of lighting that won’t be work-out enhancing. Maybe a desk lamp on a desk for your crafting, but that should be the extent of that.
Also, a BIG mirror in front of your workout equipment is a must, especially in a basement. I’d spend the most money on that. You’ll like it wherever you move to, also.
Big insperational posters in small, cheap, plastic black frames works really well in a work-out room. Find stuff that inspires you to move, to achieve, to grow, etc., and that have matching bright colors that you’ve picked. Sometimes they already come framed.
For the crafting side I recommend WHITE furniture. it will reflect the light, make seeing what you’re doing easier, and look neater and fresh. Get your cheap white plastic shelvs or drawers to keep your stuff in. There are those stackable white plastic "drawers" that are in style right now that you can get for very cheap at Walmart. You can stack two or three on top of each other to save space and also bring things up more. Finding a big, old desk and painting it white would be good, and then perhaps buying regular white shelving to put along the back of it would be useful.
The chair can be any color. It won’t matter, just make it to work for you.
Try to stay away from grays, blues, silvers, charcoals, black, etc in here. It’ll make it cold and dark and unfriendly. No metals or anything. Plastic, wood, fabric, etc. is more warm and inviting and comfortable.
Anyway, I hope I helped and didnt bore you to tears!

I was wondering how much a person could expect to make working for a scrapbook home party company. Let’s say you do 2 parties a week. Just something for spare money. Also, is there anyone out there who does this full time? What kind of money do you make? I appreciate the honesty of those who answer. Thanks!
With most home party plan companies , one can make about $100 for every in-home demonstration/show. With all the party plan demonstration companies, they do vary in the cost to start, how soon, you will re-coup your investment, minimum sales requirements, extra benefits, etc. So you must really compare several before you sign up.
Your personal success will depend on what what you put into it (energy, time, ex). You must really love the products you’ll be representing if you want to be successful. Some companies make it very easy to make full-time money with part-time hours and others, it’s a lot more difficult. Personally, I’ve been with a certain company for about 2 1/2 years. At first, I did it VERY part-time and now I’m building a team and soon the company will be making my car payment and I’m earning other incentives. I have just picked up another home party plan, not because my first one was unsuccessful, but because the second company involves my hobby and for the last few years, every time I went to a "crop" or "card making class", I was telling myself inside, " I can do that just as well, I should be making the money at this instead of giving it away" Anyway, my point is that I know the Home party plan business and I chose my new "scrapbook" company, VERY carefully. I made a great decision about this company for alot of reasons. I do not want to ‘advertise’ here but please e-mail me at marilyn@mrvander.net for more more details on what these companies are and why I chose them.

I am new to scrapbooking and am slowly learning that though this hobby is fun (and addicting), it costs a lot of money to keep the hobby up. Does anyone know of discount stores/online stores that I can check out for supplies? I am trying to find cheap pages, paper, and stickers.
Thanks for your recommendations!
Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, and Joann’s always have coupons in their ads. Often the coupon is for 40% off any one item that is regular price (Hobby Lobby doesn’t always have that coupon). I have learned that Joann’s allows you to sign up for coupons through email and mail as well and, best of all, you can use all the coupons in the same transaction! They also take Michael’s coupons. On the other hand, I have learned that Michael’s will take Joann’s coupons (the one from the ad only) as well as a coupon for another locally owned craft store. If you use these coupons, they will save you a ton of money. The only down side is that if you get on the mailing list to receive Joann’s coupons through the mail, you have to take them to the store and have the store scan the barcode on them–even if you aren’t buying anything. If you don’t do that, they will drop you off the list and it’s really hard to get back on. This happened to me about a year ago and I haven’t been able to get back on the list. If you aren’t sure of the policy, just ask a store clerk and they will tell you if they take competitor’s coupons.
Be sure and watch sales too. Dollar stores have a lot of good scrapbook stuff and some craft stores will have a dollar section. If you are into stamping, try using the clear stamps instead of the rubber mounted ones–they are way cheaper, but they don’t last as long.
Good luck and remember to have fun!
~Edit~
If you are on a budget, avoid companies like Creative Memories and Close to My Heart. While they have cute stuff, they are very pricey and their products are comparable in quality to those you will find in stores. In fact, stores have way more variety.

I’m starting up a business at home creating unique and customized wedding invitations, wedding accessories (thank you notes, place cards, programs, etc.) and note cards (bridal showers, baby showers/baby gifts, birthdays, holidays, etc.) and want to get myself out there but I’m trying to not spend too much money, especially on a website for my work. I’m a graphic designer working since 1997 in the corporate world and am looking to take my design, photography and scrapbooking talents and combine it into one unique business I can do from home. Anyone can help with ideas to get started or know of someway to get a free website. Help is greatly apprecaited!
Maybe this will help?
