What is a good present to give my sister for her baby shower?

Published by admin on September 8, 2010

My sister is having her baby shower this November and Im looking for a good gift. I am 14 and dont have a lot of money however im willing to do something creative. I have already thought of a scrapbook. Any other ideas out there?

And please keep in mind its going to be a girl christmas baby (December 28th).

The scrap book is a wonderful idea, when you’re putting it together..put in pictures of your sister growing up if you can, and that way they can always compare how alike they look, and if your sister hands down the scrapbook to her daughter, she’ll always have pics of her mom as well.

Other than the scrap book, how about a "first christmas" ornament or a family ornament with all of their names on it? That is if your neice is actually born BEFORE xmas. You could always write a poem on how your sister is now a mom, I’m sure you can get ideas from the computer about how to word it.

There is always gift cards. I’m sure she’ll have more than enough clothes and such given to her. If all else fails, give her a little coupon book that you make up stating..you’ll do diaper changes, free babysitting (within limits) help her w/ house work (while she’s getting used to being mommy) etc.

How do I start a scrapbooking business?

Published by admin on September 8, 2010

I would like to start a small scrapbooking business in my town. There is already one store, but I would like to start one thats has more items for sell and where people can come to crop as well. What all do I need to do?

I think the first thing you would need to do is to work out a business plan and try to establish whether or not your town is big enough to support 2 scrapbook businesses.

Consider whether the reason they do not stock what you deem to be enough items is that they are not making enough money to purchase more stock.

If you feel there is sufficient scope you will need to:

a) find suitable premises

b) consider refitting to suit your stock

c) purchase stock

d) consider if you are going to work alone or employ staff – if you are going to employ. you will have to check up on current employment legislation.

e) Consider all relevant health & safety legislation

f) take out appropriate public liability insurance in case some one has an accident on your premises.

g) make sure you have sufficient funding to continue in the business when trade is slow.

h) sort out a marketing plan – if people don’t know you’re there they won’t come.

i) establish an internet presence, either just to publicise the business or consider whether you want to sell over the internet.

j) if you have never run a business before check out tax rules, book keeping methods etc.

This is just a list of things which jump into my mind – there will be lots more ot consider but this should give you some food for thought.

If you decide this is too big a jump at present why not offer to run crops and classes in the existing scarp book shop. You could charge for the classes etc and the shop would benefit as it should result in more sales for them.

Whatever road you decide to take I wish you lots of luck.

Is anyone on here a Stampin Up demonstrator?

Published by admin on September 7, 2010

I am interested in becoming a stampin up demonstrator. Can you really make money off of this? I have a scrapbook room in my house and want to fill it with lots of stuff. I am also a corporate trainer so I have the professional background for it. I thought it would be fun, but wonder if I could get anything out of doing it, other then the joy of knowing I helped someone of course (Insert Smile here.)

Hello! My name is Tara. Like you, I dedided to become a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator not too long ago. I love the products and have always done card making and scrapbooking. Why not put that hobby to better use by creating a business!

The best way for you to become a demonstrator or find out more about becoming one is to use the www.stampinup.com website. There is a "Find a demonstrator" link that will take you to a page where you can find demonstrators in your area. As demonstrators, we are always happy to help and love getting new people started in thier own demonstrator businesses.

If you have questions, I would be happy to answer them! You can email me at HudsonValleyStamping@gmail.com or visit my web site at HudsonValleyStamping.stampinup.net or HudsonValleyStamping.com

scrapbooking or no?

Published by admin on September 7, 2010

So my boyfriend & I decided that we were going to make each other things for christmas instead of buying them. I’m moving right after christmas so it has to be really special. Some ideas I had were making him PJ bottoms or a scrapbook. (maybe just collages with pics of us?). problem is, his mom is a seamstress and has a lot of experience with scrapbooking. I don’t want to have to live up to her expectations. Also, I don’t to spend a lot of money.. 10-20$ is good. something cost more to make than buy made. any thoughts or other ideas? thanks!

A scrapbook will cost you between 25 and 75 dollars, depending on what you buy and what you put into it.

I would encourage you not to feel you have to "live up" to your boyfriend’s mother. If she has any finese at all, she will appreciate the sentiment you put into your gift.

How to sell my digital scrapbooking products?

Published by admin on September 7, 2010

I would like to sell (indiviually or to a company) my digital scrapbooking pages, embellishments, alphabets, etc. What is the best way to do this? What about just starting my own line, starting out small and selling to local stores? Do you think it’s better to do only digital or only paper or do both?

Maybe check out a site called shabbyprincess.com I know there are different designers who post digital kits that people can download on there.. I don’t know how they get paid and whatnot though.

I think both would be great. I personally prefer non-digital, but to each his own. If your stuff is good, try out both ways. I think it would be great.
